Experts have warned that despite the fact that daily COVID-19 infections are declining, another outbreak is expected when the world enters its holiday season. World Health Organisation (WHO), in a press conference held recently, stated that certain high-risk countries which still have daily coronavirus cases may see a resurgence due to heavy mutations.

The most dominant symptom of COVID-19 infection

Why do cases recur? This is because the virus is changing, bringing in new strains with new features, and more importantly, new symptoms. According to a recent report, the most common symptom is not a sore or coughing throat, but rather a fever. You heard it right. According to data from UK researchers, the Omicron BA.2 is the strain that’s causing the majority of cases in that country. Over 200 patients have reported that the dominant symptom is a fever with chills.

Here are some symptoms that can be seen in people who have been fully vaccinated.

  1. Cough that persists
  2. Breathing difficulty
  3. Sore throat
  4. Runny nose
  5. Headache
  6. Chest discomfort
  7. Fatigue
  8. Loss of taste and smell
  9. Nausea
  10. Diarrhoea

It is essential to know the symptoms of the virus in order to avoid the complications that can arise. It is important to track these common and uncommon symptoms of COVID-19, get vaccinated and follow basic safety precautions. Stay alert, stay safe!
